I have come to find that all of us have innumerable personas to our personality – each operating at varying levels of advancement.
My Tech persona, for instance, is operating in the caves where I hold two stones and rub them together to make a fire.
Imagine then what happened when my brother gifted me a swanky electronic device. My brothers’ Tech persona is somewhere in the International Space Station orbiting the Earth. And my response to my new possession was limited to twinkling eyes and clapping hands. I was politely told “once you activate this tell us how you like it” (gasp!)
I was hesitant to ask for guidance because for one- they are in a different time zone and two- they would remind me that since I can read and write English, I should be able to follow the instructions.
Not to undermine my Shakespearean persona, who at the moment was holding two stones, I looked towards my husband whose Tech persona is perhaps receiving radio waves from other galaxies but whose Volunteer persona was incidentally also holding two stones.
I had no choice. For a simple activation of the device which a pre-teen can do with their left hand, it took me 48 hours, 1-night vigil, and 3 sessions of meditation. Each time I went to peer into the device it seemed like it was yelling to my face- “initializing”. After some time it had cooled a bit to inform “installing”.
All this while I felt that within me there were dimensions that were being downloaded, initialized, and installed. I drew on my courage and patience which seem to have had a version upgrade in the interim. I realise that there are other personas that take over and one’s system evolves to take on a new challenge. I just needed to create that space.
I feel accomplished. Now there are many possibilities- NASA could just call me one of these days, or I could get a fire started by rubbing the two stones together.
